When planning events for Connect, I walk a fine line of presenting new high-tech ideas while taking care not to overwhelm attendees. Though technology can have a major impact on improving engagement, it isn’t the main focus for our conferences (we’re all about building relationships, of course!).
That’s where our experts like Jim Spellos, Austin Johnston and Brandt Krueger come in. During their educational sessions at Connect Marketplace, they’ll show you new tools and gadgets not only for your personal use, but also how to incorporate them into your event. They’ll also spark conversations around iBeacons and augmented reality systems, as well as innovative expo floor concepts like using heat sensors to gauge traffic on the show floor.
The biggest tech trend right now, in my opinion, is big data. I would suspect nearly every smart company out there uses big data in event marketing, which is why you may be getting a few extra phone calls from technology providers and suppliers these days. RFID wristbands, the heat sensors above, polling—all of that technology falls into the category of big data. The more you know about your participants, the more you can ensure they are receiving ROI from attending your event, and the more you improve your show next year to continue to meet their needs.
