While in college, Solis was working for a decorating company where he spent countless hours setting and dismantling trade shows in the local convention center—thus his introduction to the meetings and convention industry. Shortly after graduation, he was introduced to the CVB world where he soon joined and held several positions related to sales and marketing. Following 23 years at the San Antonio CVB, he took his experience and joined the Houston CVB where he currently leads the Destination Sales team as senior vice president of sales.
Solis has had the opportunity to successfully bid on NCAA Final Fours, NBA All-Star Games, the NFL Super Bowl and countless other key sporting events. Additionally he’s served on boards, LOCs, task forces and host committees. The thing that brings most pleasure is gaining the respect from a client to select Houston as the site for their annual programs.
