Michael K. Krouse, CMP, CHME, CASE, works in Ontario, California, as president and CEO at Ontario Convention Center, Greater Ontario CVB, and Citizens Business Bank ArenaAs a 2019 15 Over 50 honoree, Krouse discusses his passion for the events industry.

What I do:I lead a team of dedicated professionals to market a destination, make a positive impact to the Greater Ontario economy, and create a positive experience for our visitors. As president & CEO of several venues, signature events, and our CVB I have high expectations to be the very best and respected authority on our region.

How I got here: I have been in the hospitality industry for years. With a background to understand the day-to-day tasks of our stakeholders and to provide them with information to improve their business I have worked my way to a position I enjoy. The challenges and creativity are my passion.

Impressive stats: Under my nine years of leadership at Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, the group generated substantial annual gains of up to 318 percent in economic impact to Los Angeles, resulting in an overall net gain of $5.8 billion.

Specific improvement I’ve made: When I arrived in Southern California’s Ontario in 2013, I recognized the need for a Tourism Marketing District. With more than 6,000 hotel rooms, I created a TBID and funding mechanism. We needed to market the region and drive visitors to us.

What I do outside of work: I enjoy spending time with my family. I have three children that keep my home calendar busy.
